The Estate
Jean-Pierre SAVARE acquired Château Le Mayne in 2018, a property located on the best terroirs of Puisseguin; the 20-hectare estate has always been considered one of the best in the appellation; They decide on a major investment program, in the vineyard, and in the cellar.
The plots are located on clay-limestone plateaus characteristic of the best terroirs of Saint-Emilion.

A thin layer of gravel and clay covers a very thick limestone rock, which facilitates the infiltration of rain, and allows water to be redistributed by capillary action during periods of drought.

This optimal water regulation favors the vines and the maturity of the grapes: around Saint-Emilion, many Premiers Grands Crus Classés, such as Ausone, Canon, Clos Fourtet, Pavie, Troplong-Mondot, or La Mondotte benefit from this same geology.

The plantations have always been made with a concern for quality more than for productivity: thus rootstocks (very often Riparia Gloire, Fercal, etc.) are particularly well suited to the terroir. Across all properties, the average age of the vines is over 30 years, and some plots were planted 60 years ago …

Tasting Note
Beautiful color, ample in the mouth and nice length. a deep wine with a persistent chew.
Very nice satellite of Saint Emilion and very good value for money.
Perfect with beef or lamb dishes with a garnish of small vegetables. A wine of pleasure for a beautiful moment of conviviality.
